In 1998, we organized the first specialized meeting in the field of signal transduction and gene expression in Luxembourg. This type of meeting was originally thought to teach doctoral students of the molecular and cellular biology master training program of the University of Nancy I (France).
Since then, more than 5000 fundamental, clinical and industrial researchers were gathering in Luxembourg for eight different meetings in order to discuss therapeutic applications in the field of signal transduction, transcription and translation related to novel therapeutic applications. These meetings allow new insights into this rapidly moving field. Novel antibodies against receptors, protein kinase inhibitors, antisense oligonucleotides and siRNA targeting both signal transduction and gene expression will certainly enhance therapeutic approaches for the next century.
Welcome to Luxembourg!

The City of Luxembourg is the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, situated at about 220 km from Brussels and Frankfurt, 380 km from Paris. The city has a population of about 90 000 inhabitants.
As European Capital, Luxembourg is the seat of several European institutions: the secretariat of the European Parliament, the European Court of Justice, the European Investment Bank, the European Court of Auditors and the first European School founded in 1953. Most of these institutions are situated in the Kirchberg quarter, very close to the meeting center. The Kirchberg quarter, situated in the northeast of Luxembourg City is also a business quarter.
Some others institutions are also situated in the Kirchberg quarter as for example, the Mudam or The Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art opened in 2006 is a museum of modern arts designed by the famous Chinese American architect Ieoh Ming Pei. Just beside, the Grande-Duchesse Joséphine-Charlotte Concert Hall (Philarmonie Luxembourg). Situated in a park, the Fort Thüngen (Dräi Eechelen in Luxembourgish) is a fortification built in 1732 and destroyed around 1874.
The other places of interest of the capital are the Grand Ducal Palace, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the casemates, the National Museum of History and Art and the National Museum of Natural History located in the Grund quarter. The Grund is an old quarter situated in a valley on the banks of the Alzette river, it is a very popular nightlife quarter where are located many clubs, pubs and cafes.
